Earlston Bridge Overnight Road Closure 4 & 16 Nov 24

A68 220 EARLSTON – BRIDGE REFURBISHMENT AND BEARING REPLACEMENT
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland are currently carrying out works at the bridge carrying the A68 trunk road over Leader Water to the south of Earlston. These works, as previously notified, have been ongoing since August and will continue until February 2025. This update is to inform of upcoming road closures, as previously advised.

In order to facilitate deliveries and surfacing works across the bridge, overnight road closures of the A68 are required on:
• Monday 4 November between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00
• Saturday 16 November between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00

Further closures will be required in the future and dates will be published as soon as they are confirmed and any changes to the above will also be communicated in an update to this letter.

A signed diversion route will be in place during the overnight closure, with southbound traffic directed to follow the A6105 and the A6089 towards Kelso, followed by the A699 to St. Boswells where they can rejoin the A68. Northbound traffic should follow the same route in reverse. Local access will be maintained up to the bridge from both sides, alongside emergency services allowed access at all times.

There will be no change to the existing lane closures with the temporary traffic lights and temporary barrier system in place on Earlston Bridge until February 2025.

We thank motorists in advance for their patience and understanding and recommend that they check the latest travel updates and allow extra time for their journeys during these periods.

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.traffic.gov.scot, Twitter/X at @trafficscotland or the mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions. Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact myself with reference
