In 2017 an afternoon tea combined with a Quirky Quilt exhibition held in Eckford Village hall raised a significant sum of money to help Harry Thomson to compete successfully in bochia events around the world. He has won three medals in a two month period in three countries which is an amazing achievement. With no funding support he has to raise his own funds to enable him to continue to compete. His grandmother Margaret makes fabulous quilts, some of which are on display here. With his mother Michelle and grandmother Margaret behind him 'Team Thomson' are working very hard to keep Harry competing. For further information please see press article below this article
In August 2019 Eckford resident Sandra Kinnoch was instrumental in organising a Quilting Extravaganza in the Abbey Row Kelso. A grand total of £1388 was raised which was shared equally between Project Linus Scotland and Harry Thomson (an independent boccia athlete) Sandra is pictured to the right of Harry in the photo below.
